Spike Lee, the director we no longer present, returns with a film soon available on Netflix. After receiving in 2019, the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director for BlackKklansman, he is again ready to blow us away with his film Da 5 Bloods: Blood Brothers. https://twitter.com/SpikeLeeJoint/status/1258396418638663682?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1258396418638663682&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.justfocus.fr%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D237785%26action%3Dedit

An absence at the Cannes Film Festival

Although the Cannes Film Festival was cancelled this year due to the coronavirus, Da 5 Bloods will still be available on Netflix from June 12. The film was to be screened at this event in the out-of-competition category. The director was also to be the president of the 2020 jury. On this subject, the general delegate Thierry Frémaux announced to our colleagues of Le Figaro that "Spike Lee told us that he would be faithful to us whatever happens. I hope we can do it next year." We therefore hope that he will be able to be present for the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.Netflix unveils the trailer of Spike Lee's new film The film will still be eligible for the 2021 Oscars, so case to follow.

Da 5 bloods, a film set after the Vietnam War

The film tells the story of the return to Vietnam of African-American veterans, a few years after the war. Their names are Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis) and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock). Their goal is to find the body of their former leader played by Chadwick Boseman. Following this quest, they seem to get their hands on a treasure hidden in the middle of the Vietnamese jungle. The film with a duration of more than 2h30 seems filled with rage and action as this trailer proves us.

Two Frenchmen in the cast

Two Frenchmen are part of the film team, Jean Reno whom we see in the trailer as a powerful businessman. But also Mélanie Thierry, who will be present in the adventure and will play the role of a woman deminer. Mélanie Thierry spoke about her role during an interview for Vanity Fair. She explains that her character is that of a "woman who has set up an anti-mine association. Her parents were settlers and she stands up against this cumbersome legacy." She goes on to detail that, for her, this film is "perhaps a story of maturity". The director is interested in characters older than in his previous films, "as if he wanted to take stock of a generation while illuminating a gray area of American history". A film we can't wait to discover.
