The movie Little Evil, the horror comedy announced by Netflix, is presented to us in a colorful trailer.
Directed by Eli Craig (the director of Tucker & Dale fight evil), Little Evil has a classic scenario : following his marriage to Samantha, played by Evangeline Lilly ( The Hobbit ), Gary, played by Adam Scott (Krampus), discovers that her son could be the Antichrist. Many horror films, of varying quality, deal with children who could be the incarnation of the devil (Case 39, directed by Christian Alvart, or 666 The Curse, directed by John Moore, to name a few).It is therefore a theme in which it is very difficult to put his mark that Eli Craig tackles here.
One could expect yet another film with predictable twists and turns and without much originality, and yet it is not. It is with a particularly humorous tone that the subject is treated. Far from using the same strings already too worn, Eli Craig rejuvenates them by parodying them. Just in the trailer, the clichés follow one another : guttural voice, blood-red eyes, snow on the television screen, cornfields, etc… The child even has a hand puppet in the shape of a goat with which he plays ventriloquist and which seems to hold an important place in the film. Such a carefully dosed blend served with talented actors can only make your mouth water!
The film is scheduled for release on September 1 on Netflix.
