Actor Morgan Freeman also found himself caught up in the turmoil of the #MeToo movement. On Thursday, May 24, a CNN report accused the American of sexual harassment. Five days later, Morgan Freeman's lawyer presented evidence exonerating his client of any inappropriate acts.

Harvey Weinstein has, in spite of himself, created a real phenomenon in the Hollywood world. Women, tired of suffering sexism and violence, denounce their harassers one by one. On Thursday, May 24, a CNN journalist accused Morgan Freeman of behaving and making inappropriate remarks towards her and eight other women. A production assistant explains to CNN that the actor would have touched him, caressing his lower back. He also reportedly made comments about her figure or outfit. The young woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, adds that he would have tried to lift her skirt by asking her if she was wearing underwear. Following the report, Morgan Freeman apologized "to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected. That was never my intention. »

A plot against Morgan Freeman?

Morgan Freeman's apology seemed to have closed the deal. However, Tuesday, May 29, a new twist calls into question the accusations of harassment. Robert Schwartz, the comedian's lawyer, wrote a letter to CNN (copied to AFP). In this letter, the lawyer indicates that he presented the television network with evidence of Morgan Freeman's innocence. Robert Schwartz allegedly brought "videos and official denials of the alleged victims", arguing that the eight women interviewed would have been incited to speak ill about the actor. Robert Schwartz and Morgan Freeman are asking CNN to remove the report incriminating the comedian. The TV station refuses for the moment to accede to this request. CNN reporter Chloe Melas stands by her accusations and released a video of Morgan Freeman making inappropriate comments. This video, which you can see above, made a good number of Internet users skeptical.

Morgan Freeman concludes by stating that "all victims of assault and harassment must be heard. And we must listen to them. But it's not fair to equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor. Will we ever have the end of the story?
