With $758 million at the global box office, Maleficent was the surprise of 2014. Disney had bet on originality by offering Sleeping Beauty from the point of view of the famous villain of history. Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning will be back, with some nice surprises in the cast.

A first image of filming confirms the start of the second opus of Maleficent

It is Elle Fanning who brings the good news of the week: Maleficent 2 is being filmed! By a photo on Instagram, she ironically "Bring his mom on the set of #Maléfique2".

A news very well received by fans, after the success of the first film. On Twitter in particular, the reactions are lively and rather cheerful (even very):

Michelle Pfeiffer in the cast

As can be seen in the tweet above, Michelle Pfeiffer will take part in the adventure. She will sit as Queen Ingrith. Other new actors will appear, including Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), Ed Skrein (Deadpool), Robert Lindsay (My Tribe) and Harris Dickinson. Disney has also confirmed the return of other actors such as Sam Riley as Diaval and Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville as good fairies.

Maleficent

Like a taste of pirates

The adventure will be directed by Joachim Rønning, to whom we owe Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge. Does Maleficent 2 bode well? If the entire cast has been unveiled, it is also the case for the synopsis, unveiled yesterday by Disney. The story of Maleficent 2 will take place a few years after the events of the first. Continuing to explore the thorny relationship between Maleficent and Aurora, the pitch will revolve around new alliances of the two protagonists against new opponents. Which already makes you want!

In recent years, Disney has successfully revisited its live-action classics (Cinderella, The Jungle Book…) and this with success, as evidenced by the scores of Beauty and the Beast ! So there is no doubt that Maleficent 2 will be a box office success when it is released, which does not yet have a set date.
