The actress played the role of a woman cheated on by her husband, played by Alan Rickman, who died in January 2016.
Emma Thompson will not be in Red Nose Day Actually
The announcement of a sequel to the film Love Actually, one of the most cult romantic comedies of the 2000s, had the effect of a bomb in the hearts of fans! But the second bombshell that we did not expect is the announcement that Emma Thompson would not join the other members of the cast for this sequel. Indeed, the British actress played the role of Karen, who lived a daily life a little too dreary with her husband Harry, who ended up being seduced by his secretary. However, Harry was the role of Alan Rickman, colleague and friend of Emma Thompson, who sadly passed away on January 14, 2016. It would be necessary to explain the absence of the character in this second part, and Emma Thompson did not feel ready to play the role of a widowed woman, while she was personally very affected by the death of Alan Rickman. Director Richard Curtis said, "She just can't participate."
If some thought that a tribute to the actor would be made in the mini-film, the director replied that this was not envisaged:
"You know, talking about Alan is very complicated, so there won't really be a tribute."
The majority of the cast will be back
This sequel called Red Nose Day Actually aims to support the charity Red Nose Day , the British equivalent of our Telethon. This sequel should last about ten minutes. The majority of the original cast will return in this sequel: we will be able to find Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Liam Neeson, Olivia Olson, Bill Nighy, Martine McCutcheon, Andrew Lincoln, Lucia Moniz, Marcus Brigstocke and Rowan Atkinson. For now, nothing has been announced about a return of Martin Freeman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laura Linney and Rodrigo Santoro.
Red Nose Day Actually will be broadcast on the BBC on March 24.
