Here it is, the one we've been waiting for since the announcement of the remake. The trailer for The Lion King was released late last week and was particularly relayed on the networks.
Directed by Jon Favreau, this new opus is part of Disney's policy to remake all their cartoons. The scenario remains the same, we find all the characters present in the 1994 version. There are shots identical to the trailer of 1994. Indeed the two trailers are similar in every way.
A little reminder of the synopsis: At the bottom of the African savannah, all the animals celebrate the birth of Simba, their future king. Months go by… Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, who takes to heart to make him understand the stakes of his royal destiny. But not everyone seems to agree. Scar, the brother of Mufasa, the former heir to the throne, has his own plans. The battle for control of Leo Land is ravaged by betrayal, tragedy and drama, which eventually results in Simba's exile. With the help of two new friends, Timon and Pumbaa, the young lion will have to find a way to grow up and take back what is rightfully his…
For this opus, there is little chance that the director has taken liberties with the scénario. It does not matter if the film is a copy and paste of the cartoon, it will delight young and old.
This is a very big bet for Disney because it is one of the most cherished stories in the hearts of viewers. The studios had also trusted Jon Favreau for the adaptation of The Jungle Book.
This new live-action version sends heavy. On the technical side, the trailer in 3D version is impressive. The scenes follow one another in a spectacular way and deliver us a breathtaking show.
The casting, meanwhile, makes you dream. We find: Childish Gambino for the voice of Simba, Beyoncé for Nala, James Earl Jones takes his place for Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor for Scar and Seth Rogen for Pumbaa, Billy Eichner for Timon and Eric André for Ed.
So obviously nothing new here, but do we need a reason to go back to see this masterpiece?
