Swedish director David Sandberg returns for a sequel to Kung Fury: a long storywith Michael Fassbender ! The short film set a record in 2013, amassing 630 000 dollars through the crowdfunding company Kickstarter.
Kung Fury, a 30-minute short film available on YouTube, wants to be offbeat, a nanar pushed to the extreme. It takes up the themes of B series of the 80s by pushing all these aspects to the maximum. So we end up with an American police officer, having learned the secret of the ancestral art of Kung Fu, who must kill another Kung Fu master of the 40s: the Kung Führer. With the help of computer genius Hackerman, he hacks time and travels to the time of the Norse god Thor and laser-raptor to finally arrive in Nazi Germany.
Above the history steeped in 80s pop culture, the short film is visually very beautiful. Kung fury was a huge success, subtitled in 23 languages and with 29.5 million views, a sequel was eagerly awaited by fans.
Long announced by David Sandberg, it is now official there will be a sequel, a Hollywood feature film. The director even offers Michael Fassbender. No more details are known about the role of the actor (perhaps the new right-hand man of Kung Führer). We will also find David Hasseloff who had already made an appearance in the short film.
New details are expected shortly. We hope that the sequel will keep its essence, its humor and that it will surprise us as the first part did. To prepare for this sequel, you can watch or rewatch the short film and you will find, as a bonus, the crazy clip of David Hasseloff. Case to follow.
