Released on June 6, Jurassic World 2 took a 180-degree turn compared to the previous film. Although there are some similarities in scenario with the Lost World of Jurassic Park, this film is set in a whole new context: that of the protection of animals and the environment, but also genetic modification.

As Claire and Owen travel to the island to save the surviving dinosaurs from extinction, including Blue the last velociraptor of Owen, they are betrayed by an organization that wants to sell the velociraptors. Already in the first part of Jurassic World, the subject was launched. The success of Owen's project (taming velociraptors and controlling them) already raised the question of a more or less scrupulous use of velociraptors' abilities.

Jurassic World 3 Jurassic World 2: a committed film?

The film is here a pretext to exploit a very specific subject, namely animal abuse. Dinosaurs are captured to be sold to the highest bidders such as objects, but also in order to create new, more sophisticated and dangerous species for military purposes. The cause of dinosaurs is a metaphor for the current animal cause. Thus the film denounces all the mistreatment inflicted on animals in reality. Whether it's trafficking, medical experiments or simply their creation for commercial purposes. Unlike the previous films, dinosaurs are much more present in the scenario, their suffering is really highlighted.

Here the will of production is to question the responsibility of Man in the face of the mistreatment suffered by animals. The film also highlights the inefficiency of the U.S. government in not wanting to save the dinosaurs from certain extinction. It calls into question subjects that are topical today, such as cloning, or the place of animals in our society. Fallen Kingdom encourages reflection, it questions the duties that humanity has towards other living species.

Can we have creatures that are technically extinct and will never be able to adapt to life in contact with humans? As Dr. Malcolm says in the film: "Life cannot be contained, life takes off, life always finds a way".
