For the upcoming British International Film Awards (BIFA), actress Judi Dench will be awarded the Richard Harris Award for her prestigious contribution to British cinema.
Dench will join the illustrious list of précédent.es gagnant.es of this award, which, in the space of 17 years, includes celebrities such as Daniel Day-Lewis, Helena Bonham-Carter, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Hurt and Emma Thompson. Last year, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarded actress Vanessa Redgrave, who received her trophy from Richard Harris' son, Jared. The latter is delighted to honor Judi Dench this year:
"Judi stole every scene she was present in and, at the same time, she stole our hearts. Even if she hates to be considered a "national treasure" but wishes to be perceived as a bony actress, she is undeniably both the emblem and the absolute reference of British actors. "
Judi Dench's long and varied career includes films such as Room with a View, Chronicle of a Scandal and the recent James Bond franchise in which she plays the chief spies, Mr. Spy. The English actress has also made a name for herself in theatre and television and is one of the most recognized and loved actresses in the United Kingdom. The BIFA trophy will join all the others Judi Dench has won, including an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in Shakespeare in Love and 10 BAFTA awards. For his part, Dench is delighted with this distinction:
"It has been a huge privilege to have worked for almost 60 years for the English film industry, one of the most creative in the world for directors. It is a great source of pride and honour to be awarded this award, which bears the name of the illustrious Richard Harris and whose winners include some of .nes of my actors and actresses préféré.es."
The British International Film Awards ceremony will be held on 2 December in London. Among the big winners, Yorgos Lanthimos, the director of "The Favourite" and the films American Animals and You Were Never Really Here.
