The rumor has been circulating for some time but this time it's official: Jessica Chastain has joined the cast of the next X-Men which will be called Dark Phoenix.

It is on Instagram that the Californian actress has formalized her arrival in the cast of this next film. She posted a photo of herself posing with James McAvoy, her co-star in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby trilogy. The caption read:

"Hey James McAvoy! Ready to see me in Montreal? I'm going to make you cry so hard."

The actress could hardly be more explicit about her arrival in the world of Marvel. We are more than happy with the news. It is true that we did not expect to see her be an integral part of this universe given her refusal to play in the last part of the Iron Man trilogy. We will have the chance to see the actress of Interstellar and Alone on Mars put on the costume of a bad girl.

Indeed, Jessica Chastain should embody in this film Lilandra Neramani, princess of the alien race Shi'ar. This character is known to fans of X-Men comics. It made its first appearance more than 40 years ago, in 1976! In Dark Phoenix, his goal should be to kill Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner.

At the moment, we have little more information about the scenario. All we know is that the actors of the previous opuses are confirmed for this new part. You don't change a winning team! Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Evan Peters will be there. We will therefore (again) be entitled to a real shock team!

The film X-Men: Dark Phoenix should be released in French cinemas on November 2, 2018. Welcome Jessica Chastain to the Marvel Universe!
