A philosophical and contemplative film, Tatsushi Omori's In a Garden that seems eternal is served by a duo of high-flying actresses: Kirin Kiki (Tokyo Delights or A Family Affair for his most recent films) and Haru Kuroki discovered in The House with the Red Roof. Adapted from a novel by Noriko Morishita, we enter the psychic intimacy of its heroine with her doubts, her wounds, but also all her joys… One follows his transformation towards fulfillment and his awakening to spirituality. She manages to reconcile Japanese tradition and modernity in her life choices. Noriko is a studious but shy student. Michiko, his cousin of the same age, is quite the opposite. Yet the two girls never leave each other. One day, Michiko learns that a lady from the neighborhood, Mrs. Takeda, is a tea ceremony teacher. The girl is enthusiastic and takes Noriko with her. In this large traditional house, the two girls will learn much more than the tea ceremony. But when the time comes, everyone will have to make their own choices. The theatrical release, initially scheduled for April 1, seems compromised. But we hope to quickly have announcements on a postponed release after April 15, or VOD according to the provisions of the French distributor. In a Garden that seems eternal is also the last film of actress Kirin Kiki who passed away at the end of 2018.
