The most famous of English heroes knows no bounds. A new film brings to the screen the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Entitled simply Holmes and Watson, Etan Cohen's film will mix mystery and comedy.
Sherlock Holmes holds the record for the most performed character in movies. 70 actors have played him in more than 200 films according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Recently, we know the English detective as Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Robert Downey Jr (Sherlock Holmes) or Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary). On December 21, 2018, Will Ferrell will play the role of the detective, accompanied by John C. Reilly as Dr. Watson. The film was written and directed by Etan Cohen, known for the screenplays of Madagascar 2: The Great Escape and Men In Black 3. The film should be a mix of action, mystery and comedy. It is not yet known when the action will take place. However, given the costumes and actors, Sherlock and John should return to their original era.
A promising cast
Little is known about Holmes and Watson. On August 23, Columbia Pictures unveiled the film's poster. We hope for a trailer in a short time. The main actors of the feature film are nevertheless known. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly have a proven track record. Their filmography is impressive and is accompanied by numerous awards. Hugh Laurie (Dr. House, Veep) will play the relentless Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's older brother. Inspector Lestrade is portrayed by actor Rob Brydon (Shaun of the Dead). Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort in the Harry Potter saga) collects the roles of villains by playing Professor Moriarty. Lauren Lapkus (Jurassic World) is the intriguing Millie, a young woman who obsesses Sherlock Holmes. If the plot of the film is still unknown, this new character will certainly play an essential role.
The film Holmes and Watson will be released on December 21, 2018 in theaters in the United States and on January 2, 2019 in France.
