Comeback of the duo of shock Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson for the second part of their crazy adventures. But this time, they are joined by a new heroine played by Salma Hayek. On the directing side, we find again Patrick Hughes who was at the helm of the first part.
Hitman & Bodyguard 2 synopsis
After his long and bumpy journey, Michael Bryce (still played by Ryan Reynolds), the fallen former bodyguard, needed a break. On the Italian coast, he tries to take advantage of his therapeutic stay with the only instructions to stay away from all violence and not to approach any weapon … This was without counting the return of Darius Kincaid (still played by Samuel L. Jackson), the hitman who dynamited his life, and Sonia (Salma Hayek), his heavily armed wife, who will lead him into a new messy plan populated by mafiosi, killers, explosions, fights and conspiracies, with the bonus of a formidable computer virus and a billionaire animated (Antonio Banderas) by boundless revenge. A stay with a more than lively program!
A fusion and explosive trio
Small flashback. In 2017, Patrick Hughes was at the helm of a buddy-movie as we like them, Hitman & Bodyguard. The film was starring two renowned actors, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. If at the time, the film had not been acclaimed by critics, the spectators greatly appreciated the duo of shock Reynolds-Jackson. And this is evidenced by the box office. Indeed, Hughes ' buddy-movie brought in the pretty trifle of 176 million greenbacks for a budget of 30 million dollars. A second part seemed obvious for Lionsgate with, again, Patrick Hughes as conductor. 
In this second part, we discover the presence of a third character completed the dynamic duo. It is Salma Hayek who plays the character of Sonia Kincaid, the wife of Darius of the same name always played by Samuel L. Jackson. The arrival of this new character and especially his importance are felt in the official title of the film namely The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard . Thus, even before seeing the film, we understand that the character of Sonia will play a leading role in this new opus. This is an opportunity for Hughes to create a new boiling atmosphere involving not two but three renowned actors in new adventures even more crazy. As for the first part, we can only note the fusion between the three accomplices. We feel that the actors enjoy playing together and embodying these characters. All the comedy scenes are essentially based on their friendship, duality and personal interests. One can't help but laugh at the sarcastic jokes that these three protagonists make. 
Bet won for Patrick Hughes who succeeds once again in recreating the comic and good-natured atmosphere of the first part. For those who enjoyed the first volume, you will enjoy this new film. You will not be disoriented because you will find your favorite characters. However, we note that the enthusiasm felt for the first part is not at the rendezvous for this sequel.
A craze that did not last long
Effect following perhaps… One thing seems clear to us: this sequel will not know the same craze as that of the first part. This bet, Patrick Hughes will not have won. It is true that reverting to the initial format is a more than perilous exercise. It is well known that the viewer can feel this effect of "repetition" although Hughes had renovated his cast of stars to avoid this. Indeed, in Hitman & Bodyguard 2, we have the chance to admire new actors namely Antonio Banderas, Morgan Freeman and Frank Grillo. 
However, the talent of these actors is not really expressed in this new buddy-movie. We regret that there is not more revenge scene like Banderas or hilarious scenes mixing Freeman and Reynolds. Finally, some action scenes occupy an important part as they are long but they lead the film in reality. It's a shame… But don't panic! The show will be present especially for those who enjoyed the first part. Fans will be able to enjoy the tasty winks of Hitman & Bodyguard. Our main favorite is dedicated to Ryan Reynolds. It's clear: this role seems tailor-made for him in the image of his costume. And the least we can say is that the actor seems to take pleasure in embodying his character. Especially in the film, we get attached to this new character. 
New because Michael Bryce has new character traits. Sadly funny, it even becomes endearing. Broken hero, as at the end of his rope, this bodyguard who puts his life at the service of others has lost his license. For him, he is demoted to the rank of "less-than-nothing". The man then swaps his triple AAA costume for that of a hero as fallen as touching. It's completely offbeat and unexpected! This helps to save this "wet firecracker" effect suffered by this aftermath. As you can see, Hitman & Bodyguard 2 is a less impactful sequel than the first part. Never mind!
