CAUSE I'VE HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE … Did you recognize the lyrics? Now, know that the iconic movie Dirty Dancing will finally have the right to a sequel with Jennifer Grey!

Dirty Dancing, the ultimate romantic comedy

Dirty Dancing quickly became a cult film. Upon its release in 1987, the film was a success with nearly $218 million in revenue generated, at a production cost of $5 million. In this film, Bébé, from a wealthy family, falls in love with her dance teacher, from a working-class background, in the summer of 1963. The film retracing this love story marked the spirits by the alchemy of its main characters, its music, its cult lines and its dance carry become a reference of pop culture. The song I've had the time of my life even won the Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

The film was so successful that it is possible to visit the filming locations at the Mountain Lake Lodge located in Virginia. Dirty Dancing has also been adapted into a musical. The song I've had the time of my life has been covered many times, including by The Black Eyed Peas, who remixed it under the name The Time (Dirty Bit) in 2010. As for the portrayal of Baby, it was taken up again in the cinema in the Arnacoeur with Vanessa Paradis and Romain Duris (2010) but also in Crazy, Stupid, Love with Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling (2011).

Baby is back!

Jon Feltheimer, CEO of production company Lionsgate, announced the sequel to the movie Dirty Dancing to Deadline magazine. Lionsgate is the company that owns the rights to the cult film. The American actress, Jennifer Grey, is part of this project as an actress but also … producer! Unfortunately Johnny's actor, Patrick Swayze, will not take part in the film since he left us in 2009. If rumors had already emerged in July, it is now a certainty that the film will take shape! Jon Feltheimer even described the project as Hollywood's "worst kept secret." Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer will lead this project with Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis as writers.

Dirty Dancing has already been the subject of television and film projects, but has never met with the same success. Indeed, the film Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights released in 2004 is a prequel re-imagining the original film. This film, this time set in Cuba, received a mixed critical and spectator reception. In 2018, a TV movie, a remake of the original starring Abigail Breslin and Nicole Scherzinger, also failed to meet its audience.

The sequel to Dirty Dancing looks promising for nostalgic and romantic comedy lovers. Despite the failures of some projects around the universe of Dirty Dancing, the film is still talking about him. And the fans will probably be there! For the pleasure of the ears and eyes, you can find the clip of (I've had) the time of my life.
