When a film has thrilled us, that it has transported us with a strong emotion, we fear that it will be disappointed when we are presented with the second part. But sometimes, and rarely, Chapter 2 exceeds our expectations and that's the climax! And this is the feat of the cartoon Tous en scène 2 (Illumination) released on December 22, 2021 in cinemas.
It is the story of a troupe of artists, actors and singers led by Buster a talented and ambitious koala who has gathered sincere talents: Rosita, a mother of a large family, Ash the young rocker, Johnny the brave and romantic, Gunter the creative, Meena the great shy with the big voice. All this troupe will rise to the top, under the clutches of the egocentric director Jimmy crystal, they will try to bring back on stage a rock star. They will create the most beautiful show that is "Stars in the eyes": It's a successful bet.
This cartoon is directed by Garth Jennings and Christophe Lourdelet. Let's look at three reasons to go see this little masterpiece.
All on stage 2: A show within a show
- Indeed, the directors operate an incredible mise en abyme. They create the plot, the adventures of the troupe, this troupe which is creating a musical: they realize two shows: the cartoon and the musical: it is a remarkable interweaving. We applaud the work. You will see the weddings and the shades of colors, the ideas of movements of gestures, the dreamlike scenery, the multiple details, the well-chosen songs agree at the right time with the situations: we are spectators of this musical by watching this cartoon. Magnificent!
Real laughter
- We entertain ourselves, pardon the expression, with our throats exposed. There are several comedians: situation, gesture. The facial and verbal expressions of these anthropomorphic animals are crumbling. The situation, in reality, is scary: death threat, trying to play a rock star missing for years in a show of strangers, organize a musical, manage a gigantic team: what stress! So, these moments of humor are welcome.
The Happy End of Music
- The plot of the story is moving. These little characters, out of their province where they met success and glory, seek to be recognized by the whole world to test their talents. They manage by cunning, but above all by solidarity and work, to produce a show never seen before… or maybe in our dreams. They will make us live a magical experience and make us vibrate to the sound of music, and these waves will make live again a rock star depressed for years by the death of his wife. Music will resurrect him and soothe his heart. The troupe is united more than ever and ready to go around the world to put stars in his eyes.
To conclude, Tous en scène 2 is a small masterpiece. Here are three beautiful reasons to go see this cartoon that delights the hearts of adults and children by letting the power of music act.
