In Hollywood, sexism is often controversial. The latest concerns the Fast & Furious franchise and more specifically actress Michelle Rodriguez, who plays the role of Letty Ortiz in the saga…

Yesterday, in our article, we told you about Michelle Rodriguez's rant. The actress was not really satisfied with the place of female characters in the Fast & Furious saga and made it known through a post on her Instagram account. Michelle Rodriguez even threatened to leave the franchise if women were not more highlighted in the next installment. Oulala, danger in sight!

To avoid the actress' exit from the track, F. Gary Gray who directed him in the last part of the series obviously felt obliged to answer him:

"I have nothing but love for Michelle. I hope everything goes well for her. Personally, I can only judge for one film. I only made one. I think with FF8 in particular, we did a good job with women on screen. Especially regarding Charlize Theron.I think she's one of the best villains in the franchise. I was lucky enough to work with Helen Mirren, who was really great, and Charlize, Michelle and Nathalie Emmanuel. You really can't speak for each of the characters, but I think there was a real relevant role for each of the characters."

There, the director scores a point. It's true that, for once, we can not blame much to Gary Gray. Charlize Theron, the main antagonist is a woman. In addition, we were able to benefit from the return of Nathalie Emmanuel and even Helen Mirren made an appearance in this last part. We can therefore see that women are becoming more and more important in the saga! Finally, Vin Diesel is, during the majority of the film, separated from his friends clearly preventing him from "eating" the screen. This then allows his team, including Michelle Rodriguez, to have more space.

So we could say that the franchise is becoming feminized. We can only hope that this continues in the ninth opus currently in preparation. Otherwise, we unfortunately risk saying Good Bye to Michelle…
