The 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival delivered its verdict and it was not the favorites of the predictions who won the palm. It is also one of the most attractive things in cinema, the fact that you can be surprised at any moment by a singular work that will win the votes of a majority. The seventh art, which seemed so inaccessible a few years ago, seems more and more open thanks to training given by competent film schools. The offer is increasingly diversified thanks to the rise of streaming platforms. Netflix, which is a pioneer in this field, has invested very quickly in the production of French works with more or less success. For example, the comedy Drôle brings together several talents from France. Prime Video follows the same path with its recent productions such as the excellent Mixed which told the story of the arrival of several female students in a male school in the 60s. Jeff Bezos' platform is also at the origin of the excellent Totems which skillfully mixes historical and spy records. The latest announcements delivered by Prime Video France show that the firm wants to continue in this direction with several shows in development. Disney + has also returned to the dance with several ambitious projects such as the excellent Oussekine who tackles a tragic news item in the 80s. Other quality series are also on the program. Concrete examples that show that if you have dreamed of training for the cinema professions, do not give up.

The world of cinema accessible to all?

The possibilities are much greater in our time. Do you want to be a director, amazed by the work of filmmakers like Spielberg and others? We give you some of its functions. The starting point of a film is usually in the head of a director. He can develop it from an original story, a news item etc. The synopsis allows him to convince a client, the producer whose mission is to evaluate the means allowing the director to develop his project. The director directs the production of an audiovisual work. He focuses on directing actors. He works from the script. He can lead the technical team. He can also do coaching. Other training courses are also possible depending on what suits you best. A production manager is not necessarily the job that will speak to you the most but his function is also essential in a feature film. He is a privileged interlocutor of the director, advising him in his choices and accompanying him from start to finish in his artistic approach. There is more than one profession in cinema and they are all important. We tend to underestimate the sound when they do a titanic job. Take the excellent Sound of Metal which narrates the daily life of a Metal drummer who gradually loses his hearing. The sound engineer who is French had to work before the shooting to think about techniques that would allow him to transcribe the best for the spectators the disability of the main protagonist, so that they can fully experience his loss of bearings.
