Tomboy

This second feature film was released in theaters in 2011.A little girl, new to her neighborhood, decides to pretend to be a boy. "Boyish" cut and mixed clothing allow Laure to detach herself from the "feminine" aesthetic codes to become Mickaël. In the end, what is femininity ? Especially during childhood. This change of gender chosen by Laure, calls into question the distinction between boysand girls from an early age. The film questions both gender inequalities and the choice of one's identity. Can you choose your gender? How should we react to a child who denies his or her gender identity? The film achieved 300,000 admissions and opened the Berlin Film Festival. Tomboy

Girl Band

She shows the place of young girls in difficult neighborhoods. A very social film, which again addresses femininity and the search for identity. Portrait of the girl on fire

Marianne, a painter, had to paint a portrait of Héloïse, a sullen young girl. Little by little , young women discover and understand each other. While they were locked into the social codes of the late eighteenth century, theydeveloped a certain affection for each other. Once again, Céline Sciamma addresses relationships between women and the search for identity, but in a completely different era. Marianne, painter, is a figure of independence and freedom, facing Héloïse, stifled by family expectations that do not seem to correspond to her. With this film, she won the screenplay prize and the Queer Palm at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 as well as the César for best cinematography in 2020. Portrait of the girl on fire So what about you?
