It's decided! Warner Bros. has finally revealed who will replace Johnny Depp in the role of the villain of the series Fantastic Beasts 3! The gods have spoken and it is Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Casino Royale, Rogue One) the Danish actor who will put on the costume. This decision comes following the announcement of Johnny Depp's departure on November 6. In a letter posted on his Facebook page, the actor revealed that Waner Bros. had asked him to withdraw from the project. Known in the film world for his iconic villain roles; Mikkelsen had his first major international success with the role of "Le Chiffre" in James Bond Casino Royale in 2006. Since then, he has taken on the role of "Hannibal Lecter" in the series Hannibal (2013); and "Galen Erso" in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2018). Mikkelsen will play opposite Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Catherine Waterstone in the third installment of the magical series. Fantastic Beasts 3 is scheduled for 2022.
