From 3 to 5 August 2018, the eighth edition of the Sylak Open Air festival will be held. Big sounds, conviviality, proximity between festival-goers and artists but also respect for the environment are at the heart of this small festival located in the Ain.

In the small village of Daint-Maurice-de-Gourdans, where the grass is soft and green, will be held again this year this festival answering the charming name of Sylak. Sylak is an alternative music festival, mainly focused on the metal and hardcore scene.

With a surface area of 200 square meters, the Sylak does not have the ambition to welcome many more people than the 9,600 people who occupied the festival site during the summer of 2017.

Hardcore and metal programming

The announced lineup is not yet complete, but the bands that will certainly invade Regis Perrin Stadium are for the moment: Hatebreed, Bloodbath, Comeback Kid, Rotten Sound, Dead Kennedys, Hate Eternal, Municipal Waste, Carnifex, Terror, Integrity, Sticky Boys and Broken Teeth!

It's a very hardcore programming, but not only! Sticky Boys bring a little edgy Rock N' Roll tinge to the event, while Carnifex, Bloodbath and Hate Eternal take care of the Death touch.

Of course, we will keep you informed for the future! We think we are still waiting for the announcement of a dozen names.

A human festival

Sylak is not only distinguished by its local and family format. Like much of the metal, hardcore and underground scene in general, Sylak is "committed" to good causes (and even counts Sea Shepherd among its partners). And good causes, let's talk about them!

The festival was created from the non-profit association The Rock Runners. The profits of Sylak are therefore reinvested in the following year's edition. In short, an association and a festival for the love of music and sharing good times.

Sylak ensures that it takes ecological measures, using recycled paper and vegetable inks for the entire paper communication. The prints are "climate neutral", because the organization supports through donations, the protection of forests in Mozambique.

Moreover, on the festival site, flyers are forbidden so as not to leave waste, but it is possible to "hang posters on the fences". For the same reasons, ashtrays are made available to the public. It is also stipulated on its website that Sylak uses recycled materials.

And if not…

Free camping and access to water points!
