The singer Rhodes is the first part of Hozier's tour and it was a real pleasure to meet him at the Folies Bergères this weekend.
Alone on stage, with only his guitar as accompaniment, the young Rhodes was welcomed by an audience more than attentive to the Folies Bergères. A religious silence for Hozier fans who loved the short performance of the young British. Rhodes himself was very surprised by so much concentration and enthusiasm. He could have been afraid, but the attention shown by the Parisians was more than respectful. Its simplicity and authenticity charmed the room which never ceased to applaud the end of each piece.
His album Wishes was released in September 2015 and offers us wonderful titles that we were able to discover acoustically. We were of course waiting for Close Your Eyes , an essential title that gives goosebumps, and we were not disappointed. We would have loved to see Birdy join him for Let It All Go; He had to do without her, much to his regret, but did very well.It was a delight to hear his wonderful voice then rush on Raise Your Love or You & I.
Although eager to hear Hozier, the Folies Bergères warmly greeted Rhodes' short performance which ended with the song Breathe. He offered the public to follow him on Twitter before inviting them to join him at intermission in the lobby to discuss and meet him. Smiling, available and very relaxed, he then lent himself to the game of selfies and autographs.
Here is a tender and approachable artist as we like them. Rhodes will be back on February 4th at the Maroquinerie and he hopes to see you there.
Will you be there? We do!
