The third tribute of this edition of the Deauville festival saw a completely crazy Jeff Goldblum on the stage of the C.I.D. The 64-year-old actor, very comfortable, amused the audience with humor and crisp anecdotes.
Emmanuelle Devos, member of the Jury of the Competition, opened the ball with a simple but laudatory speech. The traditional tribute film plunged us into Jeff Goldblum's (long) filmography.
The actor was boiling with energy. The Pittsburgh native looked back on his early days, where at the age of 15, he really decided to become an actor. Jeff Goldblum took mime classes (inspired by Marcel Carné's Children of Paradise ). He then turned to acting classes by joining the Sandford Meisner school.
He is a lover of France since he has already played in five French films. He also praised the talent of our compatriots by recalling that the 7th art is French and created by the Lumière brothers. He confessed to us that his favorite film was The Rule of the Game by Jean Renoir. The actor is also a musician since he plays the piano in a jazz band. He pushed the song with a grivois air (When I see Fernande…) and a song composed by John Williams for Jurassic Park (with the help of a delighted and cooperative audience).
Jeff Goldblum left the stage quoting one of cinema's most famous lines, taken from Casablanca. This is the last dialogue of the film, which fit perfectly with this Franco-American festival. "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship"
