Let's face it: animated films remain, no matter our age, our cute sin! From its original title, "How to train your dragon" Dragons transports us to a Viking universe where dragons sow trouble on the island of Berk. Only, what kind of anti-hero will dare to confront them? Dreamworks gives us, once again, a singular animation.
A fascinating universe
Inspired by Cressida Cowell's book, this animated film shines by its realization. The film is fluid, the sets and the atmosphere take us to the end credits without even taking a look at the clock.
We are immersed in a Viking tribe on the island of Berk. Horned helmets, animal hair, whiskers provided, handmade armaments and banquets (very) garnished, a wild era reigns. To better kill dragons that come to steal their livestock, the Vikings study them by gathering all the information collected during the fighting in a collection. We then find all kinds of dragons as impressive as each other. The specificities are linked and awaken in us our imagination!
We discover dragons so touching that they become pets. Their skin is flamboyant and their eyes so pure. What if we had one too?
Extraordinary characters
Dragons was written and directed in 2010 by Chris Sanders and Dean Deblois. These two directors not unknown to the general public leave us once again stunned in front of unusual characters. Recall that they also took part in two productions for the Disney group, Mulan and Lilo and Stitch, where the protagonists were distinguished by their desire to extricate themselves from any social norm. But then, what do they have in store for us in Dragons ?
First, the hero of the film, Harold, happens to be an atypical character marked by the social pressure that weighs on his shoulders. Indeed, unable to find his place among a community full of virility and destined to take the lives of dragons, Harold is definitely the ball of the island. Chestive and clumsy, however, he cannot be blamed for his incredible creative talent and courage. However, where it gets stuck is that his father, Stoic, is the leader of the Vikings. And, unlike his son, his character is assiduous as is his robustness and ideas. Thus, their values divide them.
Apart from Harold's gang led by his beloved and non-female Astrid, a mysterious dragon is discovered. He is fast, had never been seen before, black in color with large green eyes, and he is called… Krokmou. In addition to its name too crunchy, this nocturnal fury will create before our eyes a very powerful bond with Harold. It will even become the central subject of the film and various animated series.
While Dragons 2 has already made its appearance, a third (and apparently last) opus will see the light of day in 2019! We can't wait to postpone this legendary Viking helmet to hover a little more on the back of a dragon, don't you?
