Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is a film released in 1982 and based on the book by Philippe K. Dick Do androids have electric sheep. In this film set in 2019, we follow Rick Deckard (played by Harrison Ford) who is a blade runner. The latter must remove the replicants, kind of androids created by men and especially the Tyrell Foundation. Deckard will have to hunt for a short time six replicants who escaped from Mars.

Deckard, replicant or not in Blade Runner ?

In Blade Runner, Deckard must remove several androids as he retired as a blade runner. This hunt will take him to several places in the city of Los Angeles which is described in a dirty way. The music also helps to show it with its strident notes that run through the different musical themes. As this story progresses, Deckard will fall in love with a replicant of the Tyrell Foundation, a Nexus 6 model like the ones he must find. Those who are illegal return to Earth so that they can increase the length of their lives.

We can imagine Deckard as a replicant because during a scene, when Rachel, Tyrell's android, is in his apartment and Deckard leaves the room. At this moment, we see the actor's pupils light up. In addition, at the end, when Roy Baty, leader of the escapees, fights against the blade runner, as the latter is about to fall, he catches up with him to help him live. It is legitimate to think so because androids are empathetic only with each other. This is only an opinion and precisely this film has an open ending so everyone can choose what happens after.

Who owns a work and especially Blade Runner ?

Blade Runner had the right to 3 versions. The first version, called cinema which was released in 1982, was not completed by the film's creative director, Ridley Scott. Indeed, the latter had problems with its production, which changed the end of the script. With a critical reception and quite poor viewers, it is legitimate to wonder where the problem comes from. Indeed, when the other two versions, the Director's Cut and Final's Cut, released respectively in 1992 and 2007, were appreciated to such an extent that Blade Runner is now considered a cult film.

In addition, the movie Blade Runner is a loose adaptation of K's book. Dick. Free because the film includes some elements but not everything. Indeed, the book takes place in the 1990s while the film takes place in 2019. Secondly, the film uses the principle of blade runner against replicants. These are only the things that bring the two works together in addition to taking up some important characters.

Finally, we can think that the work also belongs to the spectators. Indeed, during an interview Ridley Scott announced that Deckard is a replicant even though the film has an open ending. Thus, viewers may think they own a part of the work as soon as it is finished and everyone has their own idea of the work. Finally, with the arrival of the sequel, Blade Runner 2049, everyone can have a part of the work with this sequel.
