The French director Albert Dupontel returns to the cinema screens with great fanfare! The trailer of his latest film, Goodbye Up There, is intense and sensational although it remains somewhat enigmatic.

After 9 months firm (2013), awarded the César for best original screenplay, Dupontel tackles the adaptation of Pierre Lemaitre's novel, Au revoir là-haut, Prix Goncourt 2013. Tackling is the right term, because the project is not the least.

Through an impressive and colorful historical fresco , Dupontel tells the story of Albert and Edouard, two French soldiers who meet on the front during the First World War, and who launch a vast scam selling a war memorial.

The period of the Roaring Twenties is an ideal playground for the expression of Dupontel's extravagant style. The trailer functions as a flurry of hard-hitting footage reminiscent of the bursts of bullets soldiers are exposed to as they leave the trenches; All the virtuosity of the director is thus restored. The themes of the film are only accessible in bits and pieces: war, broken mouth, scam, party, despair… The absence of a classic narrative to grasp the ins and outs of the story may bother many.

Who says large-scale project, says casting that must be up to the task! And Dupontel understood that. He puts all the chances on his side by taking care of the choice of his actors and embodying himself the role of Albert. We thus find on the poster Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, revelation of the film 120 beats per minute, Laurent Lafitte, Émilie Dequenne, Mélanie Thierry, Niels Arestrup, Michel Vuillermoz and even Kyan Khojandi.

As for the technical team, Dupontel recalled at his side a large part of the technicians with whom he had collaborated over 9 months firm : Vincent Mathias (cinematographer), Pierre Queffelean (production designer), Mimi Lempicka (costumes), Françoise Quilichini (make-up) and Christophe Pinel (editing).

Au revoir làhaut is one of those films that have everything to become real references in the French cinematographic landscape! With a solid script and a neat cast, Albert Dupontel's feature film, which is scheduled for release in theaters on October 25, 2017, promises to be a great success.
