Annette by Leos Carax opening the Cannes Film Festival

Leos Carax's new film, Annette, will open the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held on July 6, 2021. The director features big names, namely Marion Cotillard, Adam Driver, or Simon Helberg. This Monday, April 19, the trailer of the new film by Leos Carax was finally unveiled. The director, absent from the screens since Holy Motors (released in 2012), returns with his new film, Annette. His feature film is based on an original idea and music composed by the mythical group Sparks.

Annette : Leos Carax is back

In Annette, Leos Carax directs Marion Cotillard, who plays opposite Adam Driver (known for his role as Kylo Ren in Stars Wars). We can also find the Belgian singer, Angèle, also on the poster of the next Asterix and Obelix: the Middle Kingdom. Or Simon Helberg, famous for his role as Howard Wolowitz in the American series The Big Bang Theory. Annette plunges us into a musical, where Henry (Adam Driver) and Ann (Marion Cotillard) are a fulfilled and glamorous couple. The first is a stand-up comedian. As for Ann, she is an internationally renowned singer. But everything changes, when their daughter, Annette, is born. A mysterious girl with an exceptional destiny. The trailer promises us a cinematic journey, all in music. The film Annette was chosen to open the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, which will also mark the film's theatrical release. It is part of the Official Selection, and will therefore be in competition. This year, the jury is chaired by Spike Lee. Annette, is the first film by Leos Carax in English, produced by Charles Gilibert (producer of the renowned Mustang). The rest of the selection for the74th Cannes Film Festival will be unveiled at the end of May.
