Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok is in negotiations to bring Katsuhiro Ōtomo's cult manga, Akira, to the big screen.

The live adaptation of Akira has not finished talking about her. It's been ten years now that rumors have been circulating about this live adaptation, and many directors have been approached including Christopher Nolan. But Deadline reports that Warner is now courting Taika Waititi to direct this adaptation.Taika Waititi will soon be starring with Thor Ragnarok, the third Marvel adventure of the god of thunder.

Published in six volumes starting in 1982, Akira follows a band of young bikers in Neo-Tokyo, a futuristic version of the Japanese megalopolis. One of them, Tetsuo, is a former guinea pig of a top-secret government project that he will try to overthrow.Katsuhiro Ōtomo, the author and artist of the manga, brought his work to the screen in 1988 with an animated film that became a reference in japanimation.

The live project intends to move the action to a Neo-Manhattan and give rise to two feature films each covering 3 volumes of the manga. Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio 's production company, is overseeing the adaptation. With the results that Thor 3 should generate, there is no doubt that Warner should set its sights on this young director Taika Waititi
