Since his success with Whiplash and especially La La Land, Damien Chazelle has gained enough confidence from the studios to see one of his old scripts resurface.
Written in 2010, Damien Chazelle's project, entitled The Claim, had not obtained the sponsorship of the studios necessary to see his script materialize.The story follows a single father with a troubled past who discovers the whereabouts of his kidnapped daughter. At the same time, he must face the allegations of a mysterious couple who claim to be the real parents of his child.
The script of The Claim was on the black list which brings together all the scenarios that are not yet produced but that are in pole position for future projects. Scripts from Argo, Juno or The Social Network have been on this list.
The Claim is announced for 2018, a busy year for Chazelle since he will also reunite with Ryan Gosling for a biopic dedicated to Neil Armstrong.
