Jamie Lee Curtis, famous for his many successful roles in horror films, is set to direct his first feature film: Mother Nature. According to Deadline, the American actress has signed a three-year contract between her label Comet Pictures and Blumhouse, a production company founded by Jason Blum known for his low-budget horror films.
A multi-talented actress
Jamie Lee Curtis makes his debut in the horror film genre. She began with the role of Laurie Strode in the 1980s with the Halloween saga. She will reprise this role in the sequel to these cult films, a trilogy whose first was released in 2018 and the second should be released in theaters on October 21, 2020. These three feature films are produced by Blumhouse, the same production company as for Mother Nature. You should know that horror, although it is her favorite field, is not the only kind of film that has allowed the success of this actress. For example, she starred alongside Eddie Murphy in the comedy An Armchair for Two. She also won the 1995 Golden Globes for Best Actress in an Action Comedy for True Lies, the remake of the French film La Totale!. Let's also remember that Curtis has already donned the director's hat on the small screen. In an episode of season 2 of Scream Queens, but also in Anything but love. This time, it's a great first, since she is embarking on the realization of a feature film!
Mother Nature
Mother Nature is a horror film about climate change. Jamie Lee Curtis will be a director but not only. She will also co-write the film with Russell Goldman, with whom she is used to working, since he is the head of the film and television department of the Comet Pictures label. She shares with our colleagues at Deadline :
"I am 61 years old and my motto is: if not now, when? If not me, who? I am excited to have free rein to explore my own ideas and those of others. Jason and his team made me feel very welcome. Comet is ready to bring these stories to the screen."
The synopsis and cast of the film have not yet been revealed, but we know that the subject will be focused on ecology. A committed film that seems original. We can't wait to hear more!
