Known mainly for her roles in Prison Break, Walking Dead and Colony, American actress Sarah Wayne Callies is now embarking on the production of animated films, hand in hand with director Guillaume Ivernel (Dragon Hunters), with her feature film Elena's Serenade, adaptation of Campbell Geeslin's eponymous novel.
This novel, illustrated by Ana Juan and released in 2004, tells the story of the young Elena, whose dream is to become a glassblower. To carry out her project, she leaves her family and crosses the Mexican desert to Monterey where the greatest glassblowers are located. A beautiful story embellished with magical and poetic encounters.
After discovering this book in a museum shop, the actress will make it the favorite story of her daughter to whom she will read the story for almost a year every night, as the desire to make an animated film grows in her. Wayne Callies then spoke to producer David Atrachki who, very excited by the project, introduced him to the director of the Parisian gallery Arludik, Diane Launier. It is the latter who will propose him to collaborate with Guillaume Ivernel and the two artists Valérie Hadida and Tony Sandoval, all supervised by the French-Canadian studios TouTenKartoon.
After being supported by the CNC, the project is still in need of funding for the realization of a pilot, estimated at $ 85,000, so a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter was launched.
