Zerator's Z Event raises €1 million

For the third year in a row, Zerator brings together 40 streamers for Doctors Without Borders. The charity marathon lasted for 53 hours of live on the streaming platform Twitch. It was in the last hours that the million euros of donations were crossed.

During the weekend of the event organized by Zerator and Dach, 1,500,000 unique visitors were on the lives with a peak audience of 405,033 viewers at 00:55. Everyone came to watch Zerator, Mister MV, Terracid, Laink, Gotaga, Jiraiya, Trinity, Xari and other big names in the French stream. These gamers helped the victims of Hurricane Irma, but also brought a different perspective on gaming.

These people who "just play video games" have achieved a feat that surprises the streamers themselves. As Zerator said in tears: "We just play video games, we do nothing more, it sucks." Or Dach, one of the co-organizers, who states that "For a French-speaking event, so limited to an audience that speaks French, it's unheard of. Obviously, it seems a little surreal, and we were very far from imagining that it would go up here." Finally, Laink explains emotionally that he is not usually a useful person, but that this weekend, he and the gaming community, were.

Gaming and its community is still far from being free of prejudices but the Z Event gave life to the clichés related to gamers by making a human and civic action.
