Pokémon Go: battles between players before the end of the year?

Two years after its worldwide release, Pokémon Go continues its way. And after a highly anticipated update allowing players to (finally) trade their creatures, it seems that it is the PvP combat that is about to be implemented in the application.

It was during a Polish event dedicated to the game Ingress (Niantic's previous game), that the company's marketing manager mentioned this possibility:

We are currently working on PvP mode and recently added social features, such as exchanges. But the next important feature we want to add before the end of the year is PvP mode. New Pokémon will also be coming, but I can't say when.

Pokémon Go Echanges Pokémon Go: battles between players before the end of the year?

It is therefore a major feature that is about to land on our smartphones before the end of 2018. But how will these battles play out once unlocked? Will they provide access to rewards or experience? Or will it be (as with exchanges) a stardust sinkhole or some other resource? It's hard to say, but it's a safe bet that these fights have surprises in store for us. By the way, let's note one thing: it would be fun (but also terribly frustrating) if the outcome of the fights took place as in console games, namely by getting some of the money from the opposing trainer. But there is little chance, because it would risk leading to drifts, which Niantic likes to avoid as much as possible.

Just a few months before the releases of Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu and Pokémon – Let's Go, Eevee, this announcement suggests an end of the year under the sign of Pokémon. Will other surprises be revealed? You just have to wait to find out… In the meantime, enjoy the trailer of future Pokémon games on Switch without moderation!
