Rainbow Six Siege returns with its brand new Operation Para Bellum. It is available on PS4, Xbox One and of course PC. Operation Para Bellum aims to be one of the most content-rich updates in game content.
This Para Bellum update adds two new defense agents, Alibi and Maestro but also a new map: Villa (located in the heart of Italian Tuscany). A new intelligence gadget has been added, adjustments to the speed of agents have been made, bulletproof cameras installed and a new "Pick & Ban" system. All content is unlockable for fame or R6 credits.
Regarding the Villa map (R6S's 19th map), here is a small presentation: "The Vinciguerra, a criminal family known for their smuggling activities, use a Villa as a holiday resort in which they store rare collectibles. Players will have to intervene as quickly as possible as the Vinciguerra have gotten wind of the assault and are starting to flee while burning compromising documents and sheltering their belongings."
As you were told earlier, two Italian agents join the defence team, they are part of the G.I.S (Gruppo di Intervento Speciale):
- "Alibi. Cunning and endowed with a real gift for infiltrating organized crime networks, she is known for her Prism allowing her to project inactive holograms resembling her in every detail. If an opponent touches or shoots the hologram, it will be automatically marked for a few seconds. If a Prism is deployed outside, it will be detected like any other defender going outside by attackers. To add an element of surprise, the Prism masks the identity of any defender who ventures to go outside. All the explosive damage, shooting and melee attacks trigger the Prism."
- "Maestro, participated in several operations in Iraq during which he inherited a scar in the face caused by an improvised explosive device. Maestro is known for its turret capable of launching laser beams at short distances. This turret, once fixed to the ground or on a wall, Maestro can remotely control it to obtain information on the location of his opponents thanks to the camera with which it is equipped. Able to discern enemies through smoke screens, she is bulletproof and butt proof except when she opens fire on her enemies, during which time she exposes herself to damage. "
The new "Pick & Ban" system should delight some people, as in any competitive game, inequalities can persist when characters have less balanced stats (advantage/disadvantage). This will allow teams to strategize by choosing to ban an agent each in turn to put obstacles in the wheels of their opponents. Each team will also have the opportunity to choose a 6th agent in advance to exchange at the last moment with one of the agents already selected to keep an element of surprise.
Note that there have been some changes in the game:
- Armoured cameras for defenders
- A new de-escalation blocking animation
- Adjustments to the "Dropshot" (technique of lying down during a duel with an opponent to try to win the duel)
- A new management of observation tools
- An adjustment of the speed of the agents
- A buff from the Echo agent
- An improvement to the Clubhouse card
- A discovery playlist to play only on Villa
