The free to play mmorpg from Perfect World and Cryptic Studios blows out its fifth candle. Based on the world of the Forgotten Realms, Neverwinter has seen millions of players venture into the legendary lands of Dungeons & Dragons.
The Ravenloft expansion should soon be talked about, it introduces the Barovie with a new campaign to free the place from a terrible curse. On this occasion, the two companies take the opportunity to tell us about the history of the game:
"Over the past five years, Cryptic Studios has worked tirelessly to create an action-packed role-playing experience that has won over D&D fans and MMO enthusiasts," said Stephen D'Angelo, CEO of Cryptic Studios. "Working with Wizards of the Coast to bring the Forgotten Realms to life is a dream come true for many of us. We were blown away to see this game grow far beyond our expectations, and to receive such support from the players. I'd like to thank our team and community for making Neverwinter the game it has become. See you in five years! »
"We believed Cryptic Studios had the talent to bring Dungeons & Dragons to a new audience of players through their experience on City of Heroes, Champions Online and Star Trek Online," said Yoon Im, Vice President of Publishing, Perfect World. "Five years later, gamers around the world have embraced our vision of PC and console D&D. The enthusiasm shared by our community, developers and publisher has propelled Neverwinter even further than we imagined. Thank you all. »
