Saturday, October 14 was the 10th edition of Geek's live at the Carreau du Temple in Paris. The opportunity to discover and test the technologies of the future, sometimes before they are put on the market.
On the occasion of the tenth edition of Geek's live, the space of the Temple Tile was divided into three parts; In the center, the showroom with large companies coming to present their latest products, and on the sides, the lab with startups and video games. The auditorium hosted conferences throughout the day, on quite varied themes, an opportunity to listen and exchange with professionals and youtubers in sight.
The Showroom
Here, only heavy: Sony, LG, Samsung, Lenovo, JBL, Wesrtern Digital, Dyson, Phillips, Microsoft etc. Came with messy phones, Transformers tablets, gaming computers, smartwatches, remote-controlled lamps, robot vacuum cleaners, ultra-slim TVs and virtual reality headsets.
In all this technological unpacking, our eye was drawn to the new LG W7 TV (already presented at CES 2017) 3.85mm thick!!! A really bluffing Oled slab both in terms of thinness and color rendering. At Asus and other manufacturers, it is the mixed reality headset designed with Microsoft that caught our attention. It allows you to enjoy Virtual Reality, but also Augmented Reality. No need to make a choice, the two realities of the future fit into a single object.
Phillips has been working for many years the light of our interiors. Now, with Philips Hue Entertainment, a software update makes it possibleto ynchronize home entertainment content such as games, movies, music with Philips Hue lighting.
We do not detail here all the products presented, but smartphones held the top of the pavement with an impressive number of models that can meet all the current needs of users, all in a wide range of prices.
The Lab
The Lab presented several technological innovations ranging from the connected toothbrush, connected padlocks or connected sole or completely online banking.

Finally, visitors could relax at Tomorrow Island, the area dedicated to games. As VR is in fashion, there was plenty to do, like being in the shoes of a firefighter.
Star Wars was in the spotlight with the Saber League which allowed visitors to slip into the cassock of a padawan and learn the basics of sword fighting. It was also possible to meet droid builders including the darling R2D2, larger than life with R2D2 Builders.
Also in the robotics section, the Caliban space featured all kinds of robots, from the cutest to the terrifying Terminator (under construction).

Thus, the day on Geek's Live was full of discoveries, but not really surprises with on the one hand the very factual aspect of large companies that show their products calibrated for current uses always more intuitive, and on the other, the future and entertainment. But the atmosphere was rather friendly and good-natured despite the long waits to participate in the activities.
