Assassin's Creed Odyssey: an adventure of choice!

Freshly released this Friday, October 5, the new opus of Assassin's Creed plunges you into ancient Greece, in the middle of the Peloponnesian War. Ready to resume its annual rhythm, Ubisoft offers us a game full of novelties.

We told you about it in our focus on the Assassin's Creed saga, this new part focuses on choiceFor the first time in this license, the player must choose his character between two descendants of King Leonidas: a man (Alexios) or a woman (Kassandra) and this without any backtracking. The chosen character nevertheless has the same background : a Spartan rejected by his family and became a mercenary. He is ready to do anything to discover the conspiracy around his family, in the tense climate of the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.

The player can also choose between different dialogues, which will modify the story in a more or less important way, by unlocking or deleting certain quests for example. In the same spirit, 9 endings are possible depending on the decisions made, which offers the player a new form of immersion. The game goes so far as to leave the choice of the sexuality of the character, offering different romances with men and women.

The mechanics are also greatly improved compared to the previous parts of the saga. Although similar to those in Origins, the fights are more enjoyable, the shield has been replaced by a more dynamic counterattack , and the special skills are much more important. Like an RPG, the player can collect many weapons and armor that offer a bonus of specific damage. Object management has also been redesigned to be more convenient.

This new episode also takes some aspects of the previous games. Players reunite with the character of Ayla Hassan, the real-world heroine in Origins and will have access to a story mode to visit the beautiful Greek landscapes. Like Black Flag, naval battles are back; the player will also be able to improve his boat, the Adrestia.

The game was particularly praised for its breathtaking graphics and open world.

With a lifespan of around 50 hours just for the main story, the long-awaited Assassin's Creed Odyssey is definitely one of the games of the year. Available on PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One.
