We were spoiled with football again this week. In addition to European Cup matches at the beginning of the week, there were league matches this weekend. We still had the right to matches played. At the same time, RB Leipzig (7th) got back in the race for Europe, beating Borussia M'Gladbach (13th) 4-1. An important success especially because Hoffenheim (4th) defeated Freiburg (5th) away 1-2. The race for European places is thus relaunched, with a gap of only 6 points between 3rd and 9th in the championship standings.
Surprising Sunday
The surprise comes particularly from Greuther Fürther (18th) who received the Union Berlin (6th). The bottom of the championship standings won for the first time this season, 1-0. The score of the match between Eintracht Frankfurt (9th) and Bayer Leverkusen (3rd) is equally surprising. Indeed, Leverkusen led 0-2 after 22 minutes of play. But from the 23rd minute, the match is completely reversed. The match finally ended with an incredible score of 5-2. IN SUMMARY: Bayern Munich is increasingly alone in the lead. Serie A (Italy)

No change at the bottom

As well as Salernitana (20th) who with their 0-4 defeat on Saturday, on the field of Fiorentina (5th) sinks a little deeper into the league standings. Juventus (6th), who have won their last two league games and Wednesday's match in the Champions League, want to continue their momentum. However, Venice (16th) does not let go and will look for a 1-1 draw. Juve did not lose in scoring, but lost Dybala to injury.

Saturday was also the match of AC Milan who move to the lawn of Udinese (15th) as leader. The Rossoneri are grieved by multiple absences, and tired after a difficult Champions League match last Tuesday against Liverpool. On Sunday, following AC Milan's misstep, the top spot is at stake, as well as the possibility of getting closer. The first team to be able to take advantage of this is Atalanta Bergamo (3rd). And the blue and blacks do not miss their chance by winning 1-2 against Hellas Verona (12th). They then provisionally take 3rd place in the championship standings. A 3rd place that they will finally keep following the defeat of Naples (4th). Indeed, Napoli was trapped by Empoli (7th) at home 0-1. Yet the Neapolitans hit the post twice. The big winner of the day could be Inter Milan, if they manage to chain a 5th consecutive success in Serie A. For this, the Nerazzurri must beat Cagliari (19th) at home. In the end, Inter took advantage of the opportunity and won without pressure 4-0. So we have a new leader in the Italian championship standings.

Ligue 1 (France)

Back on the podium
On Friday, Lens (5th) goes to Nantes (10th) and can regain the first places in the championship standings. The blood and gold will quickly believe in their luck, especially as they lead 0-2 at half-time. But the Canaries responded in the second half and reversed the score to win 3-2. This allows Nantes to return to 2 points of Lens.
Hierarchy respected
On Saturday, no surprises in the two games that took place. Montpellier (5th) continues with a 3rd success in a row by winning 0-4 on the lawn of Brest (12th). For its part, Reims (14th) won and fell at home 2-0 against Saint-Etienne (20th).
Shock of misclassified
Sunday is the day of shocks for Ligue 1. First, Lille (13th) receives Lyon (11th). Both teams want to get back in the league, after their successful matches in the European Cup. A match that is therefore very important for both. Finally, after a strange match, Lille and Lyon split 0-0. Then, two duels to get out of the relegation zone are played. Metz (18th) hosts Lorient (19th), while Troyes (17th) hosts Bordeaux (16th). In the end, it was the teams of Metz and Bordeaux who emerged victorious. The Lorraine won 4-1, while the Girondins won 1-2.
The first three
The first two teams to aim for second place in the championship standings are Rennes (3rd) and Nice (4th). That's good, this Sunday, the two teams must face each other on the lawn of Rennes. Against the course of the game, it is the Aiglons who win 1-2 in pain after suffering a lot especially in the second half. The success of Nice can allow the Marseillais to regain second place. Spain is the next country on our journey through the five major European championships. Friday's match between Mallorca (12th) and Celta Vigo (13th) ended in a 0-0 draw.
The ranking respected
No surprise, either in terms of the scores of Saturday's matches. Espanyol Barcelona (9th), Valencia (7th) won at home against Levante (20th) and Elche (16th). Only Sevilla (2nd) won their away match 0-1 against Athletico Bilboa (11th). A match that allows the Andalusians to strengthen their second place in the championship standings. At the bottom of the table, the duel of the poorly placed between Alavès (17th) and Getafe (18th) will not have had a winner 1-1. A result that will therefore have no consequences for the championship ranking.
Victory at home
Sunday is marked by undefeated matches at home. First, Villareal (13th) won 2-0 against Rayo Vallecano (6th). A result that can revive FC Barcelona (8th), if it manages to get rid of Osasuna (10th). But on the pitch of the 11th, Barça gets only a 2-2 draw. Barcelona are therefore stagnating in the league standings far from the top 4, while they have led twice in this match. Then we had two big games in the race for European places. Betis Sevilla (3rd) received Real Sociedad (5th). A match that can redistribute places in the championship standings. A redistribution that will not finally take place, because the ranking was respected. Indeed, Betis easily won the match 4-0. 
Finally, the Madrid derby took place. Real (1st) hosted Atlético (4th). We can say that this derby has kept all its promises. But it is logically the Merengues who get a logical success 2-0. IN SUMMARY: A weekend where playing at home really mattered (only 1 away win). Real Madrid won the derby against Atletico and showed themselves as a solid leader. On the other hand, nothing changes for Barcelona, despite the recent arrival of Xavi on the bench.

Led, is not winning
The 16th day gave Friday, the opportunity to Watford (17th) away to Brentford (10th) to move away from the zone of the relegated. And Watford will believe it. They led 0-1 at half-time and until the 86th minute. But unfortunately for them, Brentford equalised, then turned the game around in the last 10 minutes.
The Top 6 without problems
Saturday, the top of the ranking returned to the track. There are no surprises, but some doubts and penalties. Indeed, the first two Manchester City and Liverpool won their match 1-0 thanks to a penalty. Penalties whistled within a few seconds at the same time of the matches (66 and 67 th minute). Wolverhampton (8th) and Aston Villa (12th) can harbor regrets as the score is severe to them. It was an opportunity to witness the return of former Reds star Steven Gerrard, new coach of Aston Villa, to Anfield. 
Chelsea (3rd) also relies on penalties to win 3-2 against Leeds (15th). This match ended with three penalties whistled. 2 for the Blues and one for Leeds. Manchester United (5th) also had a real duel against Norwich (20th). Moreover, the Red Devils can thank De Gea for his decisive saves. Indeed, on its ground, the Norwich team was organized and dangerous, especially on the counter. It will take a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty for United to take the 3 points. Only Arsenal won without trembling and without penalty. The Gunners won 3-0 against Southampton (16th). On Sunday, Leicester (8th) and Crystal Palace (12th) won largely at home against Newcastle (19th) and Everton (14th). While the match between Brighton and Tottenham has been postponed. IN SUMMARY: If there were very few penalties in the other four European championships, England did well with 8 in one weekend. Penalties that allow the first 8 to win.
