Football Liga: crazy title race between the 3 cadors of Spain!

As in Ligue 1, the title race for the Spanish championship is more than interesting this season. The three Spanish giants namely FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid are once again at war for this coronation. Since Valencia in 2003/2004, these three teams are the only ones to have won a La Liga title. After 31 rounds, the "Colchoneros" are leaders with 3 points ahead of their neighbor Madrid. With 1 game behind and 2 points behind the "Casa Blanca", the Catalans complete the podium. There are 7 days left to know the outcome of this crazy season. 

7 years later… Simeone on the roof of Spain?

The "Colchoneros" would like with all my heart that this season resembles that of 2013-2014. Indeed, in yet another title race between these 3 cadors, Atlético had won its tenth Spanish league title with 3 points ahead of Barca and Real. This season, Simeone's men are having a very solid season, especially with an impressive first half of the season. Only one defeat against its rival, Real Madrid. The second half of the season is rather mixed with already 4 defeats on the counter. Nevertheless, even with less lead over its competitors than 3 months ago, Atlético is the leader with 70 points. The latter have just inflicted this Sunday a " manita" on Eibar. In terms of the calendar, Madrid will face only 2 teams from the Top 10 out of the last 7 games. These are FC Barcelona (J35) and Real Sociedad (J36). If the "Colchoneros" are doing so well this season, it is thanks to a defense once again very solid. Only 20 goals conceded, making them the best defense in the league. Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak must have something to do with it. However, we must not forget the attack that also radiates. It is the second best attack in La Liga with 57 goals scored. Two men are performing very well this season. Rookie Luis Suarez (former FC Barcelona) who scored 19 goals and warrior Marcos Llorente (former Real Madrid) with 11 goals and 8 assists.

A 35th title for the titleholder?

Zinedine Zidane's men are the winners of the last edition. A title won with 5 points ahead of its rival Barcelona. Nevertheless, this season, Real will have to fight until the last day to lift a second time in a row La Liga. On this second half of the season, "the merengues" are in full confidence. The latter are unbeaten since January 30 and a home defeat against Levante. They won the famous Classico a week ago and qualified a few days ago in the semi-finals of the Champions League at the expense of Liverpool. Nevertheless, Zizou is not spared by injuries this year, especially on the side of his defense. Ramos, Carvajal, Varane and Mendy are currently unavailable. Added to this is the fatigue of playing every three days. In addition, the calendar is not favorable to the capital club, with 4 teams out of 7 present in the Top 8 of the ranking. Real Madrid will play on two tables since they will also have to negotiate at best their double confrontations against the Blues of Chelsea on April 27 and May 4 to hope for a place in the final. The French coach can count this season on his very experienced and very complementary team. Despite the many absences in defence, Real are quite solid with only 24 goals conceded this season. Just like Oblak for the "Colchoneros", the Belgian Courtois is very valuable in relieving his defense. In addition, Real Madrid's good performances necessarily go through its midfield trio Casemiro/Kroos/Modric. These three men dictate the game and the rhythm of their team. Finally, the attack is mainly represented by Karim Benzema. The latter is probably having one of the best seasons of his career with 19 goals and 6 assists.

A "Barcelonan" remontada…

After a complicated start to the season, it was hard to imagine FC Barcelona only 5 points behind the leader with one game less at this stage of the year. Indeed, Koeman's men achieved an exceptional second half of the season in this Spanish championship. Apart from the defeat at the Classico and a draw against Cadiz, they have won all their matches. After a quick elimination in the Champions League against PSG, FC Barcelona was able to focus mainly on the championship. This season, the Catalans unlike many European clubs are not too much to complain about injuries with only Fati and Pique for long-term absences. The calendar is quite mixed but the most important appointment is undoubtedly the confrontation of May 8 against Simeone's men. This match is a turning point in the title race. This season, FC Barcelona's players have struggled to set up their game. However, in recent times we find to a lesser extent the famous "tiki-taka" Barcelonan. Young players like Dest, Pedri, Alba and De Jong are currently full of confidence and are proving to be beneficial contributions to the Barcelona game. Despite erratic performances, France's Dembélé and Griezmann had a good enough season to accompany Messi in attack. The "Pulga" as usual is the top scorer of the championship with 23 goals for 8 assists.
