Dear readers, this week we invite you to share our experience on an escape game by the creators of the dreaded Survival Instinct and GAME OVER: LeavinRoom.
Come and discover our opinion on Motel, a… darker than it seems!
An immersive escape game from the entrance
Located in the heart of Paris, the immersion in the universe of this room is done as soon as you enter the lobby, it is decorated in the colors of a Parisian hotel of the 60s and each element of décor seems more real than life.
After that, we were confronted with the game master, and there… We were spoiled: this one was constantly inhabited by his role and the introductory speech is probably the most amusing and convincing we could hear during our many escapes.
To this are added many details accentuating the immersion in the universe of the room, we will not describe them all but one of the most atypical is the medium of communication between the game master and the players: indeed the communication is done via a tablet connected to the reception of the "hotel", What seems more realistic than hearing a disembodied voice or even clues appear on a screen located at the entrance of the room as soon as the puzzles become difficult!
A room with realism… terrifying!
As usual we will avoid talking about the scenario of the escape game, so as not to reveal it to people preferring to discover it as we explore the rooms. The curious are invited to head to the official website or this short introductory video.
Regarding the room itself, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of subtle details that dot it and the quality of the decorations… or rather at times, by the absence of scenery …
The puzzles are multiple and varied, and can be auditory, visual or olfactory (personally this last point always surprises us). Although very ingenious and sometimes particularly devious, the puzzles are accessible to all and their solutions never seem out of reach.
Another positive point: the scale of the room! At nearly 55m², it is among the most spacious in the capital, moreover, the surface is very well optimized and at no time do you feel lost in a huge empty space.
The team and I loved this room, the scale of it and the variety of puzzles left us stunned. The diversity of this room would appeal to all types of players.
