To start the year off right, we had the opportunity to test Virtual Room, the first virtual reality escape in France!
A pioneering escape game of the genre
This collaborative VR adventure, available since last February exclusively at Virtual Room, will make you participate in a unique experience. The 60-minute session is specially designed to take full advantage of the capabilities of virtual reality: once equipped with your headset, you can always move in a horizontal angle of 360 ° to interact with a 3-dimensional setting.
The immersion in the universe is almost perfect. The dimensions of the room are spacious enough to move and evolve without encountering a real wall. The avatar is incredibly receptive to all your movements, the absence of a face on it allows you to avoid entering the uncanny valley. The interaction with your comrades is also very realistic: the movement and movements of the characters are regular and without jerking and the oral communication with your teammates results in a perfect collaboration, or at least as perfect as in a real room.
If only one scenario is available at the moment a new mission will be proposed from the beginning of 2018
A great experience
For 60 minutes, you will have to travel through several eras, ranging from prehistory to the moon landing, in order to recover several anachronistic objects.
Each period is diametrically opposed to the previous period: each change of era will leave you amazed by the variety of scenery, their quality and the subtle animations of the environment.
Although the puzzles present are quite simple (the success rate of this mission is 85%), the amount of interactive elements will allow you to have a great time: even after solving the puzzles you can still interact with the scenery, like a child in a ball pool, before changing eras.
The team and I spent an hour entertaining ourselves like schoolchildren in this escape that we recommend to all virtual reality enthusiasts and all escapists wanting to try a different approach to the classic escape game.
