Disneyland Paris may be closed because of the coronavirus, but the Park continues to live backstage. Disney donated 15 tons of food to various associations. The goal? Fight against food waste. Although the lockdown has been officially imposed in France since March 17, Disneyland Paris had taken the lead. The Park has been closed to the public since March 14. But this soon posed a problem: what to do with all the perishable foodstuffs hitherto reserved for visitors? The solution then seemed obvious: https://twitter.com/EuroDisney/status/1240233148862078980 No less than 15 tons of food were distributed to associations such as Secours Populaire or Les Restos du Cœur. This gesture of solidarity was greatly facilitated by a mobilization of Cast Members (employees). Indeed, the latter have allowed the collection and distribution of many fresh products (fruits, dairy products, etc.).
"Such support from our private partners such as Disneyland Paris is invaluable to us in order to maintain emergency aid, especially food aid for the most vulnerable people." Emilie Lafdal – Director of Private Relations and Partnerships at Secours Populaire français
It is indeed beautiful to see such gestures of solidarity at such a troubled time in France and around the world. Hopefully, Disney's move will inspire other major groups to take similar action. It should also be noted that the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs…) has stopped its production of perfumes. The aim is for the factories to be used for the production of hydroalcoholic gel, destined for the Hospitals of France. Disneyland has announced its closure until March 31. It remains to be seen if the confinement will force the Park to remain closed longer, or if we will be able to enjoy a piece of Spring at Disneyland Paris. In the meantime, we will soon be able to enjoy Disney and all its classics via its new Disney+ platform.
