Dear readers, this week we had the privilege of trying out the new Lock Academy room: Revolt à la Lock! Come and discover our opinion on this escape game… the day of its official opening!

An extremely promising escape game!

When the team and I approached this escape game, it was not complete: some scenery was not yet present, there were some hiccups in the automatic launch of some puzzles and at times the pace slowed down a little too much. However the room is still in beta test at the moment, all the reproaches that we could address to it are to be taken with a grain of salt.
Let's start with the negatives:

  • We needed help with one of the puzzles
  • I don't know, it was hot I guess?

Regarding the positive points: the decorations are beautiful, each part of the room has a particular style that is immediately recognizable. The puzzles are varied and at times the thinking scheme to be used is quite atypical, veterans could be led not to try certain methods yet "obvious" but very often absent in classic escape games. This novelty in the puzzles allows a particularly refreshing experience. On the sound side, nothing to declare… We touch perfection: the sound environment is particularly pleasant, the volume is well managed and the fact that the music is diegetic adds a level of immersion, which is always pleasant.

References galore

On several occasions, a comrade and I went completely out of the plot to alpaguer us about various elements present in the room. Why will you tell me? The different references to pop-culture and the "easter-egg" present in the room. Normally, I don't like the fact of introducing references just to subjugate an easy audience. However, here each reference fits perfectly into the universe of the room and does not make task in the decors. We go from Sherlock Holmes to Portal and then to Doctor Who and Attention dino danger in a fluid and homogeneous way. Some of the many references are even integrated into the puzzles. Another element difficult to describe without spoiling the scenario of the escape game is the inter-connectivity of the scenario of the different rooms: each room follows an interconnected narrative frame that can be approached from any room.

The team and I greatly enjoyed this experience. The passion put into this project will only amaze potential players and that's why we advise everyone to try this escape game. For our part, we will take this step to attack the other rooms of this brand
