How to reconnect with fantasy while renewing it

If the story may seem quite classic at first, Cyan our protagonist does not really seem to have the makings of a hero. Yet his parents are silver knights who have dedicated their lives to the cult of Lemuria, an organization that hunts monsters commonly known as larvas. Its famous larvas attack people at nightfall in order to take their souls! And this is where the author Irono pulls out of the game by offering us a revisit of the famous myth of vampires who are not thirsty for blood but have in fact become collectors of human souls.
An idea that reminds us slightly of the anime Shakugan no Shana although the comparison stops there. Anchored in this perspective, the mangaka leads us as naturally as possible to the universe of death with a shinigami (god of death) who is disappointed to see all his humans at the mercy of his creations … A struggle for the survival of humanity is underway, much like that exercised in the world of Shingeki no Kyojin.
From shadow to light

The plot could end there and go around in circles. However, this is not the case. Cyan after a terrible tragedy, finds himself having to make a crucial choice: be a silver knight or wait for death? Obviously, no need to evade the question, he will side with the cult of Lemuria having found in damsel Reinette, one of the heiresses of the Lemuria clan who has the power to exorcise the larvas; a reason to live. But while everything is going well, our brave knight will again show bad luck.
As you will have understood, this first volume does not lack many twists and turns. Several plots will be present as well as secrets and other mysteries hovering over the role of certain characters. In addition, the chara-design of the characters is clean and clean, detailed all like the sets, the emotions felt by Cyan are justified and well conducted, not to mention the atmosphere with the look of disaster scenario, embellished all the same with a touch of humor not to fall too much into the doldrums. Although, the mangaka Irono makes her debut in the big leagues, this is her first series, we already feel a certain style of her own.
The universe of dark fantasy is well represented with this manga that has not finished surprising us. As for the reversible jacket, it is a wise and very appreciable choice, which effectively shows us the two sides of a Cyan tortured in this oh so hostile world!
