Second Chance
A comedy about death, we've seen tons of it. And there are good or bad ones. However, the originality of the drama is present thanks to this concept of body change that our protagonists will pay for. As Kim Young-so dies jumping from the building where he works and Han Gi-Tak is hit by a truck, the two find themselves at the afterlife station. Refusing their fatal fates, they jump from the bandwagon… Here they are then facing Ma-Ya, a kind of staff who takes care of souls. She who thought she was taking a vacation, must forget since the two guys crossed the line, jumping off the train that was heading straight to heaven. Ma-Ya therefore naturally offers them a return to earth that is not definitive. And this, so that they forget their regrets and can leave in peace. Only, we have nothing for nothing and there are conditions to respect. And not least! Indeed, they will have a new body and not their own, created by a super-computer and will not have to reveal their true identities, under penalty of suffering a sentence even worse than death! Young-so ends up with a body worthy of Apollo (Rain) while Gi-Tak becomes a woman (Oh Yeon-Seo).
Alchemy
No sooner do we meet our two dead than we must already leave them! Well, not really, but the transition on metamorphosis is in itself quite radical, bringing at the same time a small comic effect. The beginnings are also memorable! Whether it's Han Gi-Tak's change from a brawling man to a beautiful woman, or Kim Young-so's, a not-so-attractive man who gets younger, becomes more handsome and respected by all, because of his status in society. We learn later that the machine was wrong in its choice, the body already having an owner. We find ourselves laughing at each of their escapades and their behavior, often little, if at all, in accordance with their metamorphoses! But later, the drama becomes much more serious, since our two heroes have the mission to solve some personal problems before leaving for good. Indeed, Young-So wants to wash his honor and see his family happy. As for Gi-Tak, it is his love for Song Yi-Yeon and justice that drives him to persevere. However, the two female characters are far from being outdone: Shin Da-Hye turns out to be an introverted woman whose past will be revealed over the episodes. Song Yi-Yeon is at first glance, cold and imbued with her person. But it also hides its weaknesses and regrets under a shell. We will discover in the progress of history that nothing is due to chance and that everything happens to be linked in one way or another by fate!
Love as a motor
The drama is, in itself, a good comedy. Far from being perfect certainly, but overall, we take pleasure in following all this small world that revolves around the central core that are our two reincarnates. The concept is refreshing, bringing us out of the gloom due to too many dramas / series addressing the theme of death. Humor remains the main attraction of this story and we often have a smile on our lips unintentionally, while the gags are sometimes cliché. The OST is in agreement with the plot with moments sometimes calm, sometimes dynamic. However, we appreciated a little less the low and predictable blows of Cha Jae-Kook, Yi-Yeon's ex-husband really too tyrannical. Or his henchman, Na Suk-Chul ready has everything to enrich himself. Let's also mention a Choi Seung-Jae who is very endearing, a Ma Sang-Sik who made us laugh a lot, a Ha-Na and a grandfather so cute, see endearing at will! Love gives wings! A phrase that fits perfectly with this drama whose goal is above all to entertain us by making us forget the everyday. But it makes us think about what we could do if we were in the shoes of these characters and we were given such a chance…
