Following this, Gumiho asks him if he can help him become a human and behave as such. In exchange, she allows him to use his pearl in order to realize his dream, namely to participate in the shooting of an action movie and this despite the pitiful state in which his body is after his fall.

Meeting of destiny
The Korean drama My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox, is a romantic comedy taking up the codes of the genre however, its little plus lies in the female character who is not human. Indeed, the latter is a nine-tailed fox (Gu Family Book) named Gumiho who is more than five hundred years old and trapped in a painting. In other words, she knows nothing about the current world, which is always a real treat for the viewer to see the often exaggerated reaction of this kind of scene. Although it is recurrent in this register, we still lend ourselves to the exercise that is not devoid of humor, quite the contrary. Dae-Woong, our male leader, will have to deal with this fox that he has inadvertently freed from his painting.
If at first we are rather dealing with the birth of an atypical friendship, later, the evolution of their relationship is all the more beautiful. There, we could have been satisfied with a story between our two future lovers but it is also a question of a quest for the heroine who is not only looking for a partner.
A common need is created between the two protagonists through an object: the Miho orb whose properties are extraordinary. Thanks to the orb, the young woman can become human in a hundred days while Cha Dae-Woong narrowly escaped certain death. On this need of each other, a passion born with ups and downs certainly but the trials are there to make them aware of all this!
Becoming human
The presence of the fantastic element represented by Miho allows us to have two visions in parallel of everyday life and especially of the human far from being a good model.
Our fox clashes many times with habits and customs, modernity and a difficult love. The evolution of her relationship with Dae-Woong makes her grow just like him but it also makes her aware of her non-human nature sometimes preventing her from moving forward. However, her courage, perseverance and benevolence make her a cute character!
Dae-Woong is a young man who has lacked nothing but the presence of his deceased parents. This rich kid continues to take advantage of his grandfather and aunt to the chagrin of them. The arrival of Gumiho will then allow him to see his life take a 180-degree turn allowing him to reflect on his priorities.
In a complementary way, the two actors offer us a satisfactory performance in this extraordinary life of couple. Alas, at some point the scenario slows its progress… Losing the viewer in a daily life that drags on in particular, because of a friend-enemy for Miho far from being up to par.
Feelings
We were talking about Miho's desire to live among humans and also be one in order to stay with Dae-Woong. This part is interesting in his approach to being able to lead, finally, a mortal existence. Since his birth, Miho has not had the opportunity to discover the world and even less love. Although adored and coveted by men for her beauty, she made people envious and jealous.
The presence of veterinarian Park Dong-Joo illustrates two feelings: guilt from his past life and a need to repair his mistake. This man who presents himself as a half-human, half-gumiho hybrid is not so considerate with the naïve fox. The actor had intrigued us, promising a rival for Dae-Wong but ended in failure; which is also the case for Hye-In. His role as a plague remains bland and nothing impressed us: we are disappointed.
Well without more…
The fantasy-romantic K-Drama My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox is a good comedy that, however, stays too much on its laurels. The main couple is very friendly and pleasant yet their relationship lacks evolution especially in the last part of the story. The scenario goes around in circles, lacking response and twists especially with the two rivals who lose their superb and fade away in front of the star couple.
Nevertheless, we must salute the secondary couple forming a comic duo that has not ceased to cause many laughs due to scenes of great naturalness. Thus, Director Ban Doo-Hong and Cha Min-Sook (Dae-Woong's aunt) with their appearances at the right time and their clumsiness became highly anticipated in each episode! The realism and closeness they show as singles looking for love bring freshness and joviality to the series.
The drama did not quite convince us however, it remains within the reach of the general public and a good way to discover K-Drama.
My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox is a classic drama where we follow the vagaries of an impossible love: human and gumiho. The atmosphere is pleasant and the actors known playwrights. To watch it, only one address: Dramapassion !
