We are in 2018 and we had not yet had the opportunity to offer you a K-drama. The choice was not easy given the number of productions, each more interesting than the next… Yet, Black Knight is the one that attracted us the most among those presented previously. A quick overview of this K-drama with our opinion!

A fantastic romance mixing different contradictory feelings, but also those of love and hate… Between the two, as we well know, there is often only one step to take!

In search of great love

First, we are introduced to the different characters and we go to Slovenia with so-Ho, then we observe Baek-Hee and Hae-Ra at his workplace, and finally the tailor Sharon. All this little world happens to be linked by the same tortuous destiny and to our main couple: so-Ho and Hae-Ra since they have a previous life together and are subject to a curse (Baek-Hee and Sharon).

Black Knight

Moreover, this drama reminds us of another: Legend of The Blue which we talked about last month; Reincarnation and fantasy will therefore be at the center of the debate in this story. Thus, what interests us here comes from the past and the events that will gradually take place.

However, the story may seem familiar or déjà vu if you are used to the genre and therefore you will have few surprises. The first part of the series being quite long to set up and dwelling on small things. But the drama nevertheless pulls out of the game by offering us beautiful repartees, humor and mystery as well as a beautiful alchemy between our lovebirds. In the second part, the revelations will not be lacking either as well as the many shenanigans made behind the backs of so-Ho and Hae-Ra.

From love to hate

Black KnightWe briefly touched on the protagonists and now we will talk about their acting.so-Ho, this character is very endearing making us think of a protective big brother that we would like to have. Moreover, his tragic history also makes him a very lucky person in business. It is understandable that both women are attracted by his charisma and the reassuring side he exudes.

Next, Hae-Ra is a young woman who struggles to live because she has undergone great upheavals in her life. While she is on the edge of the abyss, her path crosses Sharon and allows her to go up the slope. Only, it is also the beginning of a rivalry between them. Indeed, Sharon, a kind of "bad witch" has been cursed for two hundred years by the one who looks like Hae-Ra; just like Baek-Hee. A character that we really appreciated for his job as a tailor and his magnificent creations that we would have gladly worn. But also for her role as a woman haunted by her past and her disappointed love.

Let's not forget Baek-Hee who could be described as "godmother the fairy" for our couple and who unlike Sharon wants redemption and is therefore opposed to her. Thus in this core of characters it is difficult to choose a side as the reasons for their actions are legitimate. The drama is not meant to be moralistic.

A pleasant plot

Black KnightAs far as we are concerned, we had a good time with Black Knight although it is far from being very original and it has its flaws. However, it also has its qualities that will appeal to followers of beautiful romances and those who love fantasy. The drama also offers us a nice cast of actors including the leading quartet which is very good. In short, the atmosphere of the series seduced us through this love story that survives time and trials.

Overall, the natural landscapes, sets, buildings, script and direction are well mastered even if sometimes some scenes are useless such as the interventions of the aunt or those of the ex-boyfriend. The OST allow us to be in the atmosphere and in the feelings felt by the characters as for example "Silica" which wants to be mysterious with its strange noises mixing violins, sounds of wind and whisper. Thanks to this, the series transports us into its universe where each score played brings us back to a specific moment of the drama.

We also detected many scenes that make you smile (the pan of our heroine) as well as the last reversal of situation that gives her a second wind; with the long-awaited confrontation between so-Ho and Sharon. Since in conclusion, it allows an end in apotheosis.

Black Knight, is a classic romantic-fantasy K-Drama but we recommend it. In addition, the interpretation of the actors is right and the story exciting. The series offers us different emotions and visions of love with different points of view on the border of hate!
