The virtuoso of the apron
This series, adapted from the manga by Oono Kosuke takes us into the daily life of Tsuda Kenjiro (the voice actor of Tatsu, a yakuza turned housewife in The Way of the Apron). You will discover different tasks of Japanese daily life. This adaptation includes 10 episodes of about 5 minutes each.
A disappointing adaptation?
We literally loved the anime version. The different episodes were all full of humor, misunderstandings of all kinds, absurd scenes but also full of common sense. So, let's face it, we were disappointed when we immersed ourselves in the drama version. No humor, misunderstandings or any other elements that made us love the anime version. In the drama, we follow tutorials in the Tatsu way. Each episode corresponds to a specific action. Sharpening a knife, repairing a door, cooking, … Everything is explained to you… But for what purpose? We don't quite understand the point of this mini-series. Why be inspired by a comedy series, if it is to remain very down to earth and not use the strengths of the work? In short, we were bored from the first episode.
But rest assured, all is not lost. Indeed, this adaptation is not the only one carried out to date. Indeed, another drama was born in 2020. This one transcribes more faithfully the adventures of Tatsu. You will find with pleasure the various acolytes of our Yakuza.
Informative tutorials
Although we did not join this series, there is still a positive point. Indeed, there is good everywhere. If you enjoy watching tutorials online, you should be able to find your happiness. As we told you before, Tsuda will teach you how to perform various tasks of daily life. And even if you didn't plan on learning how to properly sharpen a knife, you will at least have discovered this technique. In addition, this series allows you to get a glimpse of Japanese life, and from another angle. Indeed, for this kind of series, it is rather women who are honored. Well, not this time! Discovering a Japanese man at home can be attractive, we grant you. You can also find acts that have great importance in the land of the rising sun, such as selective sorting for example. The daily tasks staged are not necessarily in accordance with Western life but it is always good to discover the practices of other countries. Finally, the episodes last only 5 min. If you have little time to give to streaming sites and a movie or an episode of a series lambda is too long, discover The Virtuoso of the Apron, and enjoy a moment of relaxation and "losing" very little time.
