With Agent of my Heart, Maki Enjôji makes a smashing comeback in France. His style is recognizable among thousands, as well as his predilection for this atmosphere combining romance and humor tinged with sexy. Wrongly classified as shôjo, this josei addresses themes such as persecution, lack of self-confidence and the culture of appearance in Japan. Fame is not fun and Chitose will realize it with Sena Fujishiro.

As dog and cat

Saejima Chitose is a rather cold young woman, sure of herself and she does not have her tongue in her pocket. She dreamed of being in the spotlight, however, she had to accept that she lacked acting talent. On the other hand, she is good at her job as a celebrity manager. His composure allows him to face scandals and make the best decisions. But this young woman who knows how to defend herself, both verbally and physically, was pushed by bullying when she was younger. A mystery hangs over his past because persecution does not seem to be the only reason. Having become a superstar in just three years, Sena Fujishiro is a fashionable actor and above all very talented. His roles are screaming truth, whether in TV series, cinema and even theater. But if he succeeds, it is because he is an inveterate liar. He is able to make anyone swallow snakes and it is Chitose who will pay the price. Between the stories he sets up and the relationships without a future that he chains, he makes him see all the colors. Yet he seems to feel something for his pretty manager… Agent of my Heart by Maki Enjôji

Love, lies and show business

This game of cat and mouse that takes place between Chitose and Sena is to die of laughter. They do not mince their words towards each other, not hesitating to make low blows. It's off the beaten track, we're a thousand places away from the usual blue flower romances. Especially since we are dealing with a womanizer on one side and on the other with a young woman who keeps everyone at bay. But little by little, they set up an adorable daily life strewn with lies and misunderstandings. In addition to this romantic comedy atmosphere, Maki Enjôji reveals the backstage of show business. The difficulties for a manager to manage stars who sometimes do only their head. Or to fans who land on filming locations, or even at home. Scandals and paparazzi are also a recurring plague that goes hand in hand with the profession. Fame is not just glitter, there are sacrifices and an image to cultivate. This false world full of lies is not for everyone. Agent of my Heart Volume 1

Maki Enjôji as Queen of the Sexy Rom-Com

A very prolific mangaka since 2004, Maki Enjôji specializes in josei and romantic comedies. She found her graphic style quite quickly and success was quickly at the rendezvous. Almost all of his series are available in France from Kaze Manga. Unfortunately, this is not the case of his oneshots and duologies which seem very nice. She first made a name for herself with Private Prince, then her popularity exploded with Happy Marriage!?. She varied the themes of her romances, ranging from a young girl who discovers several brothers to a nurse finding her calling through love. It is therefore not surprising that she embarked on a love story in the middle of show business. The series has just ended in Japan and it will be back in early July with Amaku Naru Made Matemasen, which we hope to see arrive in France in the near future! Series concluded in 4 volumes, Agent of my Heart is a pleasant discovery, in addition to being a safe bet of the genre. If you liked Chocolate Girl by Yoshihara Yuki or Let's Get Married by Miyazono Izumi, the new josei by Maki Enjôji will surely please you!
