News about the Assassin's Creed license is multiplying, but not alike. While Ubisoft has just unveiled Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Mana Books editions announce the release of the manga Assassin's Creed – Blade of Shao Jun, available from June 11.
Synopsis: In 1526, the Ming dynasty had ruled for nearly 200 years and China, until then prosperous, descended into chaos. Zhang Yong, leader of the Eight Tigers, a group of Templars, takes the opportunity to eliminate all those who could stand between him and the power. To escape certain death, Shao Jun – the last Assassin of the Chinese Brotherhood – fled to Europe to a mysterious Italian mentor. Back in her country, she is determined to take revenge against those who massacred her clan…
While Ki-oon had released in 2014 the manga Assassin's Creed: Awakening which was inspired by the video game Assassin's creed IV – Black Flag in two volumes, Blade of Shao Jun takes place after the short film Embers and takes elements of Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China. It is Minoji Kurata who ensures the drawing of this manga still in progress in Japan. If since 2017, the publisher Mana Books is specialized in the publication of books related to video games (Final Fantasy), this is the first appearance of the Assassin's Creed license in their catalog.
