Lantern Festival "Fééries de Chine": rendez-vous for the 2nd edition in Gaillac!

The Lantern Festival "Fééries de Chine" returns this year for its new edition, exclusively in Europe in Gaillac in the department of Tarn (81). We loved the trip last year and we hope that this second edition will make us dream just as much! 

A festival that takes us to China

After its huge success during the first edition that attracted more than 250,000 visitors, Gaillac, twin city of Zigong (Sichuan), the cradle of lanterns, decided to renew the event. We will discover a new theme for the city of lights, composed of monumental light sculptures, guiding the visitor in an imperial city of the Silk Road. A gigantic show of unprecedented dimensions! The centerpiece, created especially for the festival, is the largest light lantern ever built outside China. It is a palace 75 meters long, 20 meters deep and nearly 20 meters high! Enough to fill the eyes to visitors of an evening who will come out with stars in their eyes!

But the surprise doesn't stop there! Because other major shows will await visitors…

Traditional streets of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), legendary dragons, landscapes of the Silk Road through monumental lantern paintings, composed of 800 lanterns covered with silk will also be in the spotlight. The festival thinks big by promising us an exceptional show. Whether it's his trio of 12-meter-high elephants made entirely of Chinese porcelain, his panda mountain or his 70-metre dragon pair… You may not come out with the same state of mind as when you arrived! 

The park will also be animated by unusual encounters with thestreet artists of the Sichuan troupe and a show of musical and luminous fountains. A well-thought-out change that is welcome, knowing that last year, access to the show was not obvious, whether it is the reception area or the schedules of the performances.

And finally, the Sichuan craft market will feature animations and demonstrations of traditional Chinese crafts. Thanks to the presence of ten Chinese craftsmen, stone carving of statuette and Buddha, traditional Chinese paintings, freshwater pearl jewelry, fabrics and other lucky charms will no longer hold any secrets for you!
